Description
Day 8 May 26, 2016 Title: untitled Artist: Jamiliah Sabur, Ricardo Dominguez, Farshid Bazmandegan, Lisa Korpos 1 pm. Performance. 'Everything that we have is capable of being named' is a quote from the current UCSD chancellor in reference to selling naming rights to its schools, buildings, and departments as a means to garner funds. In light of the University Art Gallery closure due to lack of funds, the statement is ironic. Viewed from one perspective the words can be seen as a dismissal of the ineffable, which is appropriate. Like buildings, prices can also be easily named. The value of a pursuit cannot.
