Description
The text is as follows : The photo had to be kept secret for many years. Taken in the 1970s, it shows an early gathering of the Austin Taiwanese Association. Like most Asian immigrants during the Cold War, the Taiwanese left a nation ruled by an oppressive government. Many Taiwanese in Texas were spied upon by Republic of China government agents who sought to silence dissidents, such as those who promoted Taiwanese independence.
