Description
I took this photo of Yan Li (b.1954), poet and artist, Zhang Wei (b.1952), artist and Ma Kelu (b.1954) artist in front of a large blown up old photo of members of Wuming / No Name Painting Group in front of a museum in Shanghai. No Name Group was an early group of underground contemporary Chinese artists from the late 1970s and early 1980s noted for experimentation with a number of late-19th and early-20th-century Western styles. Zhang Wei and Ma Kelu were members. I met all three artists in NYC and became their friends. UC San Diego Library, UC San Diego, La Jolla, CA 92093-0175 (https://library.ucsd.edu/dc/contact)
