Description
Ash and Slag Fill -- Fill dense with ash and industrial waste of copper production. Located to the north of the structure. Fill contains very little soil and consists mainly of slag and tuyere pipe particles. Locus is closed with the discovery of wall that predates the main -- Probably predates the main structure. No doubt predates installation L1809 and wall L1808. Relation to earlier wall unclear. Research Data Curation Program, UC San Diego, La Jolla, 92093-0175 (https://lib.ucsd.edu/rdcp) Large quantities of slag, dozens of parts of tuyere pipes including complete or nearly complete examples. Scattered pottery and bones. Locus above: 1803 -- Locus contemporary: 1809, 1830 -- Locus below: 1823,1828 North: inner section, South: L1809, L1812, East: Inner section, West: L1800. Slag layer same as slag scatter familiar from topsoil prior to excavation scattered throughout the stone fenced courtyard around the structure. -- sructure and whose relation to the slag fill s unclear. Area stratum R2a-b (?)
