Description
This photograph documents my first meeting with Wu Wenguang. Wu and I met in a Yunnan style restaurant near to his apartment which in those days was not far away from China Film Archive and Jia Zangke’s studio. Wu ate most of his meals at this restaurant, and it served as a meeting place for his friends. He reserved a room at the back of the restaurant for discussions with other documentary film directors. I attended two or three of those meetings while I was teaching at China Communications University during the 2001- 2002 academic year.
