Proclamation by the Viceroy of New Spain restricting the sale of certain alcoholic drinks due to their wide-spread abuse, causing "robberies, sacrileges, homicides, hostilities, nefarious and incestuous illegal activities." The text cites various types of aguardiente (e.g. Sangres de Conejo), also mezcal, vino de coco, mistela contrahechas, and ololinque (or ololiuhqui) - a drink made by mixing the seeds of the Turbina corymbosa with mezcal). Other banned beverages: tepache, guarapo, and vinguie.
