Description
This photograph is of Yue Minjun, an internationally acclaimed Chinese artist, singing the blues and rock music for friends in a music studio in Songzhuang art colony after dinner. It is not a coincidence, for me, that Yue Minjun sings the blues after drinking "baijiu" at social gatherings; because like the blues singer, he is a trickster figure who as singer and artist "laughs to keep from crying", celebrates life amidst adversity and whose subversive humor provides implicit social critique.
