Description
The name Vanuatu is derived from the words 'Vanua,' meaning land in several local languages, and 'Tu,' signifying timelessness. Taken as a whole, the name means "the land that was, is, and always will be," thus reflecting the strong emotional and spiritual value which the Vanuatu people place on their land.
