Description
This poster was on the stage of the auditorium of Beijing Film Academy for First Beijing Independent Film Festival which was a very important alternative / independent film event historically. It received government approval at first on the condition that BFA did not advertise it in the media, and the government did not want foreigners to attend. Young people learned about it from the internet. I was one of two foreigners who attended. I was interviewed about the film festival and was quoted in Life # Weekly magazine. The Chinese government shut down the festival after two days. Later Beijing Independent Film Festival moved to the artist village Songzhuang on the outskirts of Beijing until the government shut it down in 2012.
