Xi Chuan is an influential prize winning poet, essayist and translator and is considered an important cultural figure in China who has been widely translated and published abroad. Among his many accomplishments is an important acting role in Jia Zhangke’s famous film Platform. This photograph was taken at a Chinese cultural event in NYC while he was a visiting professor at NYU.
