Description
Joseph Maori, a chief from the district of Malavung, presents a pig at a rank-taking on his home territory, Lolsange. He holds the branch of cordyline, a plant with symbolic value in the graded society. A traditional loincloth or 'tuvegi' is draped over the branch. The 'tuvegi' is a symbol of the achievement of rank.
