Replica of an institutional, steel, drinking fountain that one finds in offices and schools. Normally located up against a wall, Asher includes a lip on one edge of the basin even though his drinking fountain is free standing. Asher's work pulls in the already existing elements of the site, bringing symmetry to a previously asymmetric layout.

Located on the grassy median in Mathews Quad, Asher's fountain is juxtaposed with a large American flag and a granite landmark commemorating the former Camp Matthews, a military training facility from 1917 to 1964, which occupied the land on which the University of California, San Diego now stands. The original flagpole from the military base still stands.
