Description
Diving activities are part of a multimillion industry around the world, however, despite its relevance, this industry's impact on conservation and the economy, particularly of the diving subsector, is largely unknown. Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Centro para la Biodiversidad Marina y la Conservación AC created the first comprehensive database of Mexico's diving economy spanning 860 diving sites and 49 localities across 14 Mexican states. The dataset includes the results of a systematic conservation planning using conservation features on the diving tourism revenues, diving sites popularity, marine species richness and climate change threats. These sites includes the most important diving sites to be considered for conservation in Mexico.
