Description
WC (Wall collapse) -- Fallen Rock Debris. -- Debris:- S Face of GW. -- Layer of rocks that originated in the collapse of the southern part of the gate structure. Covers additional layers of rocks mixed with sediment. -- Represent the last destructive event that may have put the gate structure out of use. Alternatively, structure may have been in disuse for some time before the Research Data Curation Program, UC San Diego, La Jolla, 92093-0175 (https://lib.ucsd.edu/rdcp) Locus below: 3 West- fort wall. East-Corner with L2. North-W7. South-Technical, marks limit of collapse extent. None. Area stratum Ia Destruction circumstances unclear. Tilted remaining walls indicate possible earth-quake. No sediment accumulation post destruction. -- Represents only first collapse layer met immediately upon beginning of excavation. Similar destruction layers appear alll around the gate structure. -- last destructive event.
