More with Glenda on discussing the break-up of the swap meet earlier in the day by local authorities—“Cutting their own throats…this place was doing fine. It was an old WWII military training base.” “Niland wont’ grow anymore. They can’t survive on the highway and the locals.” Glenda continues to present a lively and strong talk on camera. Lt. Koon arrives with other officials and gives the park ranger angle on the events at seller’s row. “Not as much compliance as I would like to see. I represent the sheriff’s office and we’re here to maintain peace during this process.” “The health dept. said they had to cease running their sewage back into the ground by the gopher hole method.” The dialogue between the older woman seller and county officials on this tape becomes more direct when the official states—“Ma'am, you don't’ have a permit to sell because one doesn’t exist.” Except for occasional background sound of generator, this is another strong tape of the swap meet.
