López nació en Peralta de Alcofea, Aragón, hijo de campesinos. Su familia se trasladó á Barcelona poco después de la Guerra Civil Española, instalándose en el barrio de San Martí de Provençals. Describe sus primeras experiencias bajo la dictadura de Franco, incluidas sus luchas para equilibrar el trabajo con los objetivos educativos. López cita la importancia de los movimientos revolucionarios que lo marcaron profundamente: La Revolución de los Claveles en Portugal (1974) y la Revolución Sandinista en Nicaragua. He describes his early experiences under the Frano dictatorship, including his struggles to balance work with educational goals. López cites the importance of two revolutionary movements that deeply affected him: the Revolución de los Claveles in Portugal (1974), and the Revolución Sandinista in Nicaragua. Later in the interview he discusses his radicalization and political activism, including a period of imprisonment. He also outlines his academic work in mathematics and philosophy as well as general literary influences and interests leading to his own publications, such as a biography of Manuel Sacristán Luzón.
