Description
Photo of Xu Bing (b.1955), artist, and Zhang Huan (b, 1965), artist, was taken at a party in NYC before they returned to China. Both were famous by this time. Xu Bing was a winner of the prestigious MacArthur Award (1999), and after he returned to China he was appointed vice-president of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Zhang Huan had become a well know performance artist and had been active in the East Village underground art community in Beijing in 1994. This photograph was taken at a party in Queens, NY.
