IIn 1961 during a magnetic survey of the eastern Pacific Ocean floor off the coast of Oregon and California the discovery of magnetic strips was discovered and published by two geophysicists, Arthur D. Raff and Ronald G. Mason. This portrait is of Arthur D. Raff two decades after that most important discovery. Circa 1986
