Description
Yang Rui studied journalism then directed documentaries for TV stations. She received a BFA at the Beijing Film Academy, worked as assistant director to Tian Zhuangzhuang on two feature films, Delamu (2003) and Go Master (2004). The photograph of Yang Rui was taken at NYU after the screening of her first independent documentary The Bimo Records, an ethnological film about traditional religious practices among the Yi minority in the mountains of Sichuan Province.
