Kenneth A. Clendenning, shown here in his laboratory, was a research plant physiologist on the staff of the Charles F. Kettering Foundation for the Study of Chlorophyll and Photosynthesis at Antioch College. He was also the former head of the Plant Science Section, Division of Applied Biology, National Research Laboratories, in Ottawa, Canada. It was he who determined that Macrocystis (kelp) was the fastest growing plant on land or in the sea. June 25, 1956
