Description
The photograph of Ying Weiwei was taken during an interview after the screening of her independent documentary film The Box (2001) which was the first Chinese documentary film to focus on a lesbian relationship. It was screened at the first Beijing Independent Film Festival at Beijing Film Academy and received a standing ovation. Later the Beijing independent Film Festival moved to the artist village Songzhuang on the outskirts of Beijing.
