María Socorro González recuerda que tenía dieciséis años cuando empezó la Guerra Civil. María cuenta que al finalizar la guerra, uno de sus hermanos estuvo detenido en un campo de concentración por cuarenta días. Nota que su hermano después estuvo encarcelado por tres años, al ser dejado en liberad partió a la sierra y las fuerzas Franquistas lo mataron. María recuenta su detención en Madrid con su esposo y su pequeño hijo. Describe que le dieron una paliza aunque estaba embarazada y tenía a su hijo en brazos, antes de forzarla a pasar la noche en el calabozo. Su esposo fue encarcelado esa misma noche. María explica que después de ser llevada al cuartel general de la Guardia Civil en Jaén, fue colocada en una prisión donde encontró a su madre, a su esposo, y a otro de sus hermanos. Reitera que los Franquistas trataron a su madre con crueldad, metiéndola en el calabozo y encarcelándola por casi cuatro años en Málaga, a pesar de que era una anciana. A otro de sus hermanos lo recluyeron por más de siete años en el puerto de Santa María y en Alcalá de Henares. Relata el trato humillante hacia las mujeres, las condiciones dentro de la cárcel, y el abuso físico sufrido allí. María y su esposo fueron detenidos nuevamente en 1948, salieron en libertad entre 1950 y 1951, regresaron a Madrid, y se reunieron con su madre tres meses después. María Socorro González remembers being sixteen years old when the Civil War began. María tells that at the end of the war, one of her brothers was detained in a concentration camp for forty days and was imprisoned for three years. She notes that upon being released, her brother went to the mountains and was killed by Francoist forces. María recounts her detention in Madrid with her husband and their young son. She describes being beaten although she was pregnant and had her son in her arms, before being put in the dungeon overnight. Her husband was sent to prison that same night. María explains that after being taken to the Civil Guard headquarters in Jaén, she was placed in a prison where she found her mother, her husband, and one of her brothers. She reiterates that the Francoists treated her mother with cruelty, putting her in the dungeon and imprisoning her for almost four years in Málaga, although she was elderly. One of María's brothers was incarcerated for over seven years in the Santa María harbor and in Alcalá de Henares. She relates the humiliating treatment of women, the conditions inside prison, and the physical abuse suffered there.
