Xiao Di is a central figure in Dali social life. He worked for CCTV in Beijing, was an assistant for the film director Zhang Yang and then with his wife Ban Huar opened guest houses in Dali which have served as salons for Chinese artists, writers, musicians, film directors and actresses. He also has ties with young Chinese who live an alternative life style on the margins of Chinese society. This photograph was taken at a party in one of his guest houses.
