Description: Scope/Content: Some gatherings detached; a single page from the end of the dictionary (with entries for Y and Z) folded in half and laid-in between pp. 496 and 497
Scope/Content: Manuscript dictionary of common English written by an anonymous writer (or group of writers) and appears to have never been published. In addition to the dictionary itself, there are other chapters and sections, which include "Preface to the Reader," "Plan or Sketch of y[e] various Works of God & Nature," "An Example of the excellency of the English Language," lists of "derivatives from the Latin & Greek," and "Sr Roger Le Stranges mistaken Abbreviations," among other topics. This is not a fine copy manuscript as there are many corrections and additions to the text (particularly in the preface, where all references to "we" have been changed to "I").
