Scope/Content: Title from spine. Manuscript. Published as: An account of the affairs of Scotland, relating to the revolution in 1688, as sent to the late King James II, when in France. London : Printed for J. Baker, 1714. Considerable paper conservation work done to first 14 pages of text.
Scope/Content: Early manuscript copy of Balcarres' Account of the affairs of Scotland, which circulated widely in manuscript copies until its 1714 publication. This is apparently a copy made by or for Balcarres from his original autograph manuscript. The former owners of this particular volume form a list of respected Scottish scholars and local historians.
Condition: Bound in 19th century navy blue morocco with marbled endpapers.
