Scope/Content: Manuscript account book of Henry James, a master in the Subpoena Office at the Court of Chancery, listing fees for cases, dating about 1704-1716. Some of the listings are quite brief but others contain significant detail about cases. The volume contains information regarding cases involving Jonathan Swift (Martin v. Swift; p. 39) and Daniel Defoe (Smith v. Defoe; p. 214). The volume is written in both a transitional secretary hand and in chancery hand.
