Scope/Content: Accounts and other text on front and back endpapers.
Scope/Content: Eighteenth century manuscript volume containing accounts, mathematical exercises and recipes dating from 1725 to 1768. Accounts record sales of hay and payment for carpentry and upholstery work as well as rent payments by a number of different tenants. Recipes include directions for making elderberry wine and "an incomparable receipt for a hard consumptive cough." Several different hands are identifiable throughout the volume, which issues from the Tyrrell family of upholsterers (upholders, in 18th century parlance) from Reading. Timothy Tyrrell (junior), who inscribed his name and used the book for mathematical exercises in 1768, was later a Remembrancer of the City of London.
Condition: Contemporary vellum; soiled and spine detached; with modern yellow fabric case.
