Scope/Content: Manuscript. Scope/Content: Manuscript collection of English anthems, psalms, hymns and musical instruction text, apparently compiled by Samuel Woolly between about 1753 and 1795. Music includes works by Henry Aldrich, Capel Bond, William Boyce, John Broderip, William Bryndle, Jeremiah Clarke, William Croft, George Handel, William Hine, James Kent, William Knapp, John Smith, Roger Townsend and Henry Purcell. Many pieces are followed by the date that they were copied and some pages also include multicolor calligraphic embellishments. A 1947 letter regarding the manuscript from Norman Ault to George Thewlis is laid in at the back of the volume. Condition: Bound in contemporary suede with some damage to corners and spine.
