Scope/Content: Manuscript notebook containing exemplars, explanations and diagrams explicating mathematical and astronomical problems. Likely compiled by an advanced student or a tutor in the mode of early modern ciphering books, this volume is written throughout in a uniform and neat italic hand and includes static diagrams as well as volvelles with moving parts. In addition to spherical trigonometry and navigation, the text also treats more basic algebra.
Condition: Bound in original green vellum with blind rules to covers and gold stamping to spine, with red spine label for title; some damage and wear to hinges.
