Description
Scope/Content: Writing book composed between 1677 and 1679 by John Willes, illustrating each letter of the alphabet with quotations from Scripture. Most pages include calligraphic illustrations, capitals and drawings in multiple colors, which were covered with a varnish or coating that has since turned brown and brittle. The last page of the volume contains some accounts related to tobacco from 1740.
Condition: Bound in plain vellum with missing back cover; soiled and torn.
