Description
Scope/Content: Extensive contemporary underscoring, marks, and annotations throughout in both ink and pencil. Annotions provide commentary (often polemical) about the printed text, criticize and correct the translation, and index key terms/concepts. Loose sheet laid-in, as well as endleaves, are copiously annotated in the same hand: these annotated leaves contain notes on Confucius and Chinese history, Latin and English verses (with author attributions to various university scholars), and a description of "The Real Order of ye Ranks of Men."
