Scope/Content: Manuscript. 20th century bookseller's description and article about John Wilkes tipped in at beginning of text.
Scope/Content: Manuscript compilation dating from approximately 1761-1765 and containing poetry written by the members of Sir Francis Dashwood's Franciscans (also known as the Monks of Medmenham or somewhat erroneously as the Hellfire Club). The volume purports to have been compiled by Thomas Potter and Paul Whitehead, and contains poetry written by John Wilkes and Charles Churchill, among others. The volume contains at least 2 different hands.
Condition: Bound in full vellum with blue moire silk endpapers.
