Description
A very full crowd packs the Venice Beach Boardwalk to observe the bathing beauty contest. In the left foreground a photographer stands on a ladder, a bit unfocused. To the right are boardwalk shops, with their windows all open and spectators watching through open windows. In the left back of the image are billboards and shop signs for Christopher's Ice Cream, Venice Photo Studio, an Orange Ade purveyor, and a restaurant. Reported in "Thousands See Beach Beauties: Record Crowd at Venice for Parade of Pulchritude, Naming of Representative Deferred to July 14, Prizes Awarded Winners in Several Divisions," Los Angeles Times, 28 Jun. 1926: A1.
