Description
Phil (Little Phil) Alguin shot and killed police detective John J. Fitzgerald in June, 1921, then fled to Mexico, prompting am extended manhunt. He was captured in Freeport, Texas in 1923 and imprisoned at San Quentin for life. This image appears with the article "Little Phil Is Lying at Death Door," Los Angeles Times, 4 Oct. 1922: I1.
Text from newspaper caption: Little Phil. Alguin, as he looks today. This photograph was taken by Chief Oaks with a concealed camera when, three weeks ago, the first attempt was made to bring Fitzgerald's slayer across the line from Mexico. Alguin wore no mustache at the time of the Fitzgerald killing in June, 1921.
