Marvin Hayes was an African American bass-baritone who performed in many styles of music from the Baroque to modern periods. He appeared as a soloist and as a chamber musician throughout the USA and Europe and he performed with major symphony orchestras. He lived his later years in Pacific Palisades and taught voice. He served on the faculty of Cal Arts from 1965 to 1979 and was a member of the Pomona College faculty from 1981 to 1995. Studio portrait of Marvin Hayes.
