Description
Mayoral portrait paintings were reported on in "Whiskers Face Eclipsing: Commission Sees No Art in Mayors' Mustaches, and Council May Fix Their Fate This Week," Los Angeles Times, 23 Feb. 1928: A2.
George Alexander became the 28th mayor of Los Angeles in 1909 and served until 1913, as per the ornate inscription on the portrait frame.
