Circular seal with motifs of standing bull, trident standard and double arrow inscription on margin
This object was housed at the Late Ramlingappa Lamture Government Museum, Ter, Osmanabad, Maharashtra, India at the time of photography in 1975. Executed in between 99 BCE - 299 CE , this sculpture discovered at Ter, an important trade center on the ancient Maritime Silk route. Ter has been identified as Tagara, which has been mentioned in The Periplus of Erythrean sea (The periplus is a logbook recording sailing itineraries and commercial, political and ethnographic details about the ports visited. The Periplus of Erythrean sea is a Greco Roman periplus that describes navigation and trading opportunities from Roman Egyptian ports along Red Sea, ports along Horn of Africa, the Persian Gulf, Arabian sea and Indian Ocean, which included modern Sindh region of Pakistan and Southwestern regions of India) The object material is terracotta. The diameter of the seal is 3.3 cm and its thickness is 1.0 cm..
