The original members of the Williams Jubilee Singers were: Charles P. Williams (tenor, of Holly Springs, MI), George L. Johnson (first tenor, Charles' brother), J. H. Johnson (baritone, of Coal Creek, TN), J. S. Crabbe (bass, of Galva, IL), Virginia Dancey Greene (soprano, of Avoca, IA), Annis Hackley (soprano, of Pittsburgh, PA), Clara Kindle Williams (alto, Charles’s wife), Inez L. Group portrait of the eight members of the Williams Jubilee Singers (4 men and 4 women) in an advertisement for the group with the caption: "Williams Jubilee Singers Touring Europe." They are wearing travel apparel and the men are holding suitcases with stickers collected during European travel. The Williams Jubilee Singers were organized in Chicago (1904) by Charles P. Williams. They were among the first jubilee singing groups to use a quartet rather than the usual 10 to 12. They performed in the United States and Europe, disbanding in the early 1930s.
