Description
Thomas Nelson, a physician, was the first African American to graduate from medical school in California, at Cooper Medical College (later Stanford Medical School).
Dr. Thomas Nelson and a young girl, christening his boat, the "Noslen." The boat is at the beach, off shore, of in a lake, with small buildings and a boat launcher visible on the shore.
