Description
John W. Beretta, an engineer, is in the front seat of the two seater plane as Henry B. Du Pont, in a pilot's helmet and goggles, climbs into the back seat at Vail Airport (owned and operated by the Western Air Express). A similar image taken on the same occasion appears with the article "Airplane Gets Flat Tire: Long Trip Made Without Other Mishap," Los Angeles Times, 23 Feb. 1927: A2. Henry B. Du Pont and John W. Beretta traveled from Detroit to Los Angeles in a Buhl airplane in a little less than a month, experiencing no trouble save for a flat tire and some inclement weather.
