Louise Beavers, was an American film and television actress. She appeared in dozens of films and two hit television shows from the 1920s until 1960, most often cast in the role of a maid, servant, or slave. Beavers often played roles in which she helps a white protagonist mature in the course of the movie. [Wikipedia]
Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, an African American tap dancer and actor, was one of the best known and most highly paid African-American entertainers in the first half of the twentieth century. In 1989, the U.S. Congress designated May 25, Robinson's birthday, as National Tap Dance Day.
