Description
Lee Barnes lands his jump into the sand pit below him. The pole he used to vault himself over the crossbar is centered between the standard bars. A man in a hat, with back facing the camera, moves to grab Barnes' vaulting pole. Another man stands to the left of the standard bars, with the number "20" on his sweater, watching Barnes land. Lee Barnes was a part of the track team at University of Southern California from 1924 to 1928. He won gold in pole vaulting at the Paris Olympics in 1924.
