Description: Pre dedication banquet to celebrate the dedication of Frederick Roberts Park, with Pearl Hinds Roberts, his wife (seated, 2nd from right). About 42 people are grouped around the table for a group portrait. The location might be the home of Frederick and Pearl Roberts.
Frederick Madison Roberts was a newspaper owner and editor, educator, and business owner. He was also the first African American elected to the California State Assembly. Roberts was a great-grandson of Sally Hemings and President Thomas Jefferson.
