Saint Philip's Episcopal Church was founded in 1910 on Paloma St. Walter T. Cleghorn was a native of St. Kitts island in the West Indies. He came to the United States in 1905 and graduated from Oskaloosa College, Iowa, in 1908. He became the first Vicar of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Los Angeles in 1910, and was an executive member of the NAACP Walter T. Cleghorn, wearing a biretta and cassock, stands of a group of 12 young men wearing suits.
