Description
Seven members of the German Grand Opera Company, including Margarete Bäumer (3rd from left), arrive at a train station. The train behind them reads "Southern." The article, "German Artists Arrive: Opera Singers Who Will Appear Here During Season Next Month Have Reached New York," Los Angeles Times, 28 Dec. 1930: B13, states that the Germany Grand Opera Company performed at the Shrine Auditorium January 29th to February 2nd, 1930, and lists the following names of singers Marie von Essen (a.k.a. Mary Kent), Margarete Bäumer, Emilie Frick and Max Roth, technical director Kurt Albrecht, and conductor Dr. Max Von Schillings. The image may be of this named group.
