Description
Charles D. Brooks received a Master of Arts degree in Education from Atlanta University in 1947 and was the principal of Stanton Senior High School from 1953 to 1968.
Kernaa D. McFarlin was a well-known high school band leader in Florida. After graduating from Florida A&M University, was appointed to be the first official band director at Stanton Senior High in Jacksonville. McFarlin's bands amassed a total of nineteen consecutive years of superior ratings in the Florida Association of Band Directors and the Florida Bandmasters Association contests. His band was Florida's representative at the 1964 New York World's Fair, he participated in three Florida Governor Inaugural parades. In 1966, Mr. McFarlin's Stanton High School band was recognized by the ``Instrumentalist'' magazine as one of the ``highly regarded bands in the Southeast.''
