Saint Philip's Episcopal Church was founded in 1910 on Paloma St. Walter T. Cleghorn was a native of St. Kitts island in the West Indies. He came to the United States in 1905 and graduated from Oskaloosa College, Iowa, in 1908. He became the first Vicar of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Los Angeles in 1910, and was an executive member of the NAACP Group portrait of five girls and two boys and one woman standing at the entryway to the church beside a plaque with church related information.
