Esther (Bruington) Beck was the daughter of Jennie S. (Beak) Bruington, and sister of Bessie Bruington Burke, the first African American teacher hired to teach in the Los Angeles school system.
Jennie Bruington (maiden name Beak) was the mother of Esther Beck, and Bessie Bruington Burke.
