The Rho Psi Phi Medical Sorority was established by Emily Brown Portwig in 1924.
Group portrait of the members of the Rho Psi Phi Medical Sorority in front of their sorority house (1259 West 36th Place) with a banner showing the sorority name and a skull and crossbones.
Emily Brown Childress Portwig was a Los Angeles pharmacist and civic leader. She married Anderson V. Childress in 1909. She was widowed by 1930. She was married to James Rufus Portwig in 1933.
