May 31, 1929, a day that came to be known as "Moving Day," saw a caravan of more than 500 vehicles filled with students, moving boxes, furniture, and equipment make its way from Vermont Avenue to the new Westwood campus. Ernest C. Moore, Director of UCLA, declared the day a half-holiday, and the ROTC band accompanied the procession. In this photograph, students unload a truck before Royce Hall.
